Understanding the Relationship Between Time, Perspective, and Possibility

There are moments in life when we feel stuck—caught in a pattern or storyline we didn’t consciously choose. It can feel like we’re locked into a single version of reality, with limited options for change. But often, what keeps us there isn’t the situation itself—it’s the belief that we can’t shift it.

Possibility Begins with Perspective

The truth is, possibility is always present. We are never limited to just one way forward. Even when things feel immovable, there is always a way to soften, shift, or see differently. Sometimes, accessing that shift starts with a different perspective—an invitation to zoom out and remember that what we experience as “fixed” may only feel that way because of where we’re standing.

Recently, I heard a Monopoly analogy that captured this concept beautifully. Imagine your game piece is sitting on Park Place. That square, in that moment, is your entire experience. Boardwalk may feel close, and Mediterranean Avenue might feel ages ago. But from above the board, none of it is far—every square exists at once. From that higher vantage point, there’s no real linearity. Just presence, all visible at once. That’s what time is like.

From where we stand, it feels like we’re moving forward—past to present to future. But that sense of progression is part of the illusion—part of the “game of life.” In truth, all moments exist simultaneously, and we’re simply focused on one at a time. The perspective we occupy shapes our reality.

Shift Your Reality by Shifting Your Perspective

Most of us have had moments when we wished life was different—when we longed for a new path, a second chance, a fresh direction. The good news is: you can shift your story. You can adjust your alignment. You don’t have to be confined to a single version of how things are unfolding. Some people describe this as moving between timelines, others see it as a mindset shift or energy realignment. Whatever the framework, the power to change is real. The belief system isn’t the point—the freedom is.

This is the same reason shadow work is so powerful. When we revisit past wounds, we’re not just remembering—we’re interacting with energy that still exists in the now. Because time isn’t a straight line, those moments are still energetically active. And when we heal them, we’re not just making peace—we’re changing them. We’re shifting how they live inside us. That’s why the impact feels so immediate and so deep.

So whether you’re healing your past or dreaming a new future, the message is the same: you’re not stuck. You have options. You can move. You can choose again. What feels fixed is often just a matter of perspective. When we rise above the board, we see the full picture. And in that space, all things are possible.

Actionable Insight

  • Ask yourself where you’ve accepted limitation as fact. Are there areas in your life where you’ve resigned yourself to a version of reality that no longer fits? What happens if you zoom out and consider: what else might be true? What else might be available to you if time and possibility weren’t as narrow as they seem?
  • Revisit a past moment with new eyes. Think of an experience that still holds emotional weight—something you’ve replayed many times. Instead of retelling the story the same way, pause and ask: What energy was I holding at the time? What would I tell that version of myself now? By shifting how you witness the moment, you open the door to healing it—not by changing what happened, but by changing how it lives in you.—Note: This post was inspired by a reel from Aaron Abke, which used the Monopoly board to explain timelines. Whether or not you agree with his framing, the visual itself is a powerful metaphor worth sitting with.
